The league opener for the Bishop O’Dowd Dragons and Piedmont Highlanders was one to remember. The game started off quick with scoring for both teams by senior Luke Barrett (Piedmont) & junior Marsalias Roberson (BOD). In the second half the underclassman of the team took over JoJo Murphy (2022 Piedmont) and was relentless going to the basket finishing with 34 points and freshman phenom Jalen Lewis with 26 points.

The Highlanders were leading majority of the game to a swing of momentum when freshmen Jalen Lewis did a spin move from the baseline for a dunk. Ryzon Norris & Taj Phillips (BOD) made some great defensive plays that led to easy baskets to push the game into overtime.

In overtime the Dragons pushed the lead to 4 points with 6 seconds left where they called a timeout with none left initiating a technical foul. JoJo Murphy goes 1 for 2 at the line. Where he eventually ties the game on a fade away corner 3 at the buzzer. The Dragons eventually takes control in the second overtime to win 92-86.
