The 2019-2020 NBA season is right around the corner. With the start of the NBA summer league here are some of the following players with Norcal ties on a NBA summer league roster the year.
Brandon Ashley (Sacramento Kings) – Brandon was a star at Bishop O’Dowd before finishing his HS career at Findlay prep. He spent 3 seasons at the University of Arizona. He played his last 2 seasons in the G-league with the Texas Legends.
Isaiah Pinero (Sacramento Kings) – The hometown kid out of Placer HS has an amazing career at the University of San Diego. The 2 x All-WCC 1st-team is going into his rookie year as a professional.
Ivan Rabb (Memphis Grizzles) – The 2015 CA open state champion and once the #1 player in the 2015 class. Ivan is going into his 3rd NBA season after spending 2 years at UC Berkeley. Ivan played really well in the last part of the 2019 season picking up multiple double-doubles.
Frankie Ferrari (Utah Jazz) – The best name in basketball played basketball at Burlingame HS and just graduated from the University of San Francisco. He was named 2 x All-WCC 1st-team and top 5 in 3pt made & assist in USF history.
Cody Demps (Indiana Pacers) – The Sacramento native stayed at home and played at Sacramento St for 4 years and have spent the last 3 seasons in the NBA G-league playing for the Reno Bighorn & Stockton Kings.
DJ Wilson (Milwaukee Bucks) – DJ played HS ball at Capital Christian (2014) out of Sacramento where he earned a scholarship to play for the University of Michigan for 3 years. DJ spent his last 3 season between the NBA and G-League for the Milwaukee Bucks.
Kenny Wooten (New York Knicks ) – Out of Manteca HS, Kenny took a prep year at Trinity prep in Reno before committing to the University of Oregon. Kenny played 2 seasons at Oregon averaging 7 points & 5 rebounds.
Marcus Lee (Philadelphia 76ers) – The Deer Valley HS product committed to Kentucky out of HS and then transferred back home to UC Berkeley for 1 season before going professional. Marcus was on the Miami Heat roster last season and finished the season in the G-League.
Will Cherry (Detroit Pistons) – The oldest of the players listed was the MVP for Mclymond’s HS that went 33-0 and a state title in 2009. Will had a decorated career at Montana where he led the Grizzlies to multiple trips to the big dance. He spent last season with the Santa Cruz Warriors and had a short stint with Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014.
Juan Tuscano-Anderson (Golden State Warriors) – Juan is a Castro Valley HS alumni who spent 4 years at Marquette. He played on the Santa Cruz Warriors last season and was MVP of the Mexico league the season before that.
