What made Eastern Washinton the right school for you?
I chose EW because I knew it was somewhere that I was wanted. They were my first offer and I have really built a relationship with the coaching staff. Also Coach Legans was a point guard as well so I’m excited to play for and develop under someone who played and understands my position.
What other schools were in the recruiting mix before your commitment?
I had 4 offers but it ultimately came down to Sac St and EWU. Though a part of me wanted to return home and play for my friends and family it was important to my mom and I that I got away from home to get the real college experience and be able to grow as an independent adult.
What are things you want to work on before you get to college?
EWU is known for really spacing the floor and taking threes so I’ll definitely work on becoming a more consistent shooter as well as continuing to improve on my playmaking skills.
What is your advise to players going through the recruitment process now?
My advice for those going through the recruitment process is to work on becoming a better all around player. Today’s basketball culture has put an emphasis on scoring but from my experience it’s the little things that really stand out to coach’s like talking on defense, controlling the pace of the game, minimizing mistakes, and making the right basketball play. Also pick a school where you can go and make an immediate impact. It’s nice to go to a big name school but why wait until you’re two or three years down the line to actually become a key piece.
